It can be a touchy subject, and is never enjoyable. Still, when raising Monarchs in large enough numbers, OE Parasites (Ophryocystis elektroscirrha) are something we need to deal with, and that may sometimes mean euthanizing the very Monarchs we have raised. Or does it? In past videos, I've recommended that adult Monarchs infested with OE spores should not be released into the wild, but how accurate is that? Is this always the case? What are the experts saying?
In this video, I do my best to try to get some various viewpoints on the topic, so that any and all of us involved this far can make informed decisions. What you do with that information, essentially is up to you, but this is definitely a topic worth exploring and understanding better.
