Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head (Trumpet Cover) - David Miller, trumpet
Written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and recorded by B.J. Thomas, for the 1969 motion picture, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
I happened to see this movie at the theater today. Occasionally they show older movies, so when I saw this was showing I decided to go. I can remember the song way back to when I was a little kid. As a matter of fact, it was my favorite song back then for several years and it's actually the reason I started to play the trumpet! In elementary school, as was the custom then, and maybe they still do this, they would have an assembly for fifth graders to be introduced to band instruments. A small ensemble of musicians would come and play us a small concert featuring all the band instruments. Well it just so happened the trumpet player in this group played "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head" and since it was my favorite song at the time, I was hooked! Sign me up for the trumpet! That's what I want to play!!! The rest is history! (I'd later work with the gentleman who played trumpet that day, many years later, after I graduated from college. His name was David Ray. Yes, I told him the story how HE was my first trumpet influence!)
So here I'm watching the movie today and I thought I should record a cover when I got home. So I did, and here's the result! I hope you enjoy it!
