Rain interrupts TKR-GAW clash as Independence Day colours dominate Queen’s Park Oval
The Trinbago Knight Riders’ clash with the Guyana Amazon Warriors was interrupted by rain at the Queen’s Park Oval on Monday, August 31, as Trinidad and Tobago celebrated its 64th Independence Day.
The national colours of red, white and black dominated the Oval, with fans turning out in patriotic fashion for the CPL encounter on a day of national celebration.
TKR skipper Nicholas Pooran won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision that paid dividends early as the Knight Riders struck twice to leave the Amazon Warriors struggling at 22/2 after 4.3 overs.
However, the rain forced the players from the field, bringing the match to an early pause and leaving fans waiting for play to resume.
