The flattening and comparison of length followed by a quick explanation of the cut for the barrels. All in all this is a doable project and is good skill building. Also hinges have practical use and you can always tell folks they were made from rail spikes. That adds a bit of character. The next installment will be the actual cutting and filing of the barrels and scarfing and forming the rolls. Perhaps even the final forming and fitting of rivets and hole punching. We shall see what time allows.
