4GG was the first commercial radio station licenced for the Gold Coast in 1967. It began at 1200 kHz on the AM dial and shifted to 1197 kHz in 1978 when all stations were required to change to 9 KHz spacing. It was converted to the FM band in 1989 and is now known as Gold FM on 92.5 mHz.
Before 4GG existed, residents listened to either the ABC or 2MW Murwillumbah.
