I've been wanting to release a bunch in lead up to the album because of all the delays. The original plan was to release the album late last year, so by the time the tour started people could be familiar with some of the new songs. But after a pile of personal problems that led to delays, everything was pushed back. So I figured releasing a bunch of tracks as a lead up was a way around this. It's also just nice to get things out finally.
And this new track is pretty simple. It's attached to the same character from "Servants and Kings", in a spot he finds himself in years after returning home. But it's also fairly autobiographical. There's a handful of pretty personal songs on this last record (and scattered all throughout this project, to be honest), and this track is one of them. Which is uncomfortable in some ways, but hey. You write what you write.
