When a subwoofer was used near-field a Bellari SX595 (review coming!) crossover was inserted between the preamp outputs and the amplifier, crossed over at 120Hz, with bass routed to a Monoprice 12" 150 watt subwoofer
This chain was briefly used and rejected due to lack of power from the amp:
