UPDATE Aug 17, 2017: Thank you for the caring, concern, and kindness you have all shown to me during the past several years of my illness. I finally found an excellent cranial-cervical neck surgeon who discovered my neck is broken in 2 places and brain is herniating down spinal column. Some people are born with a similar condition called Chiari malformation, or Cerebellum Tonsillary Ectopia. This also causes huge increase in Intracranial pressure as outflow of CSF gets blocked, which has led to other things, like vision problems, wacky-looking blood vessels, horrendous muscle spasms, as well as brain-stem compression. I will be having cervical fusion, a bone implant, and brain decompression in a few weeks. I still have so much to say, and can no longer do it as I used to. Recovery varies quite a bit and injuries are traumatic, making outcomes less predictable. I have had a broken neck since at least April 11, 2011 and it went undiagnosed, until I saw a Chiropractor who looked at same films Mayo and everyone else looked at, and saw the broken C1 and whiplash injury to C2. Turns out C3 is broken as well, found with DMX. The brain herniation was found with Fonar MRI, which does an MRI with patient upright and head turned in multiple positions. The "Big event" I had in Dec 2015 was likely a dislocation of my neck at one of the break sites or a pinching off of the basillary arteries, as I slept with my head turned.
"At 3:00 am on December 2nd of 2015, I woke up to the most surreal experience of my life. I woke up, and thought I was dead. I wasn't breathing, and I couldn't remember how to, or if I needed to. Then I started sneezing and vomiting, simultaneously..." This is how every single visit to a new doctor starts. A scene which has repeated itself probably 50 or 60 times in the past year, if you count specialists, EMS workers, and ER physicians.
I didn't even tell my family about this event, I was so freaked out by it, until about 2 weeks later, when I realized there was way more than just 'the flu' going on..."
