Original description: In 1979 a Miami Florida TV news program aired an investigative report showing Traffic RADAR clocking a tree at 86 MPH. A Dade County judge, The Honorable Alfred Nesbitt, just happened to be watching and was quite surprised at what he saw, to say the least.
For years police officers have testified that police RADAR is accurate... beyond reproach. Now he was seeing the little black box telling a lot of little white lies. In the months that followed, Judge Nesbitt sought the truth. He heard testimony from RADAR experts praising the device and witnessed first-hand demonstrations of its many quirks and shortcomings. After all the evidence had been examined, his landmark ruling rocked the police community. RADAR was ruled inadmissible as evidence in speeding cases, primarily due to its fallibility.
