Shot97 | Racter - Amiga Voice - Gaming (Application) Memories And Review @Shot97 | Uploaded March 2017 | Updated October 2024, 17 hours ago.
In 1984 Mindscape released Racter for DOS and the Apple II, then in 1986 for the Amiga. It was allegedly the computer program that wrote (by itself) the book The Policeman's Beard Is Half Constructed. While that is unlikely to be truth the program itself is damn fun to mess around with. A very early version of a chatterbot; except this one cares about itself far more than you! Added with the Amiga version is the fabulous built in voice syntheses which I adore. This thing had me cracking up the entire time! Institute of Artificial Insanity indeed.
