This episode we're digging into one of the most legendary rack units in guitar history — the Lexicon PCM 70. We get into where it actually came from: Lexicon's roots as a digital audio company built out of MIT medical research, the legendary (and wildly expensive) Lexicon 224 that made their name in recording studios, and how the PCM 70 brought that studio-grade reverb pedigree into a single rackspace box that guitarists could actually afford to tour with.
Then we plug in and go deep on the sounds — including Steve Lukather's iconic Circular Delays patch and his Pan Delay patch, the two-PCM-70 combo that built a huge chunk of his signature tone with Toto and numerous sessions. We'll also talk about the other legendary players who built parts of their sound around this box — session legend Michael Landau, David Gilmour, Andy Summers, Steve Vai, and even Eddie Van Halen.
