Day 7 of 14 Days of Love Behind the Recipes is all about the recipe that started it all: chocolate chip cookies. When I was 12, I wanted to bake some for a fundraiser bake sale, and my mom told me if I wanted to bring cookies, I had to make them myself. The recipe called for ¼ teaspoon of baking soda... but I didn’t have a ¼ teaspoon. So I used ¼ cup instead. Yep. Big mistake. They looked amazing, but tasted absolutely awful. That one baking fail lit a spark in me. I started paying attention to how the tiniest changes could make or break a recipe, and I spent years chasing the perfect chocolate chip cookie. That one baking disaster turned into the best possible beginning, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
