I traced the problem to his heart (the UM8498F Chipset). I performed a heart transplant, and some other procedures. It lived again! The brain, UMC U5SX (Green CPU), was fine. The UMC U5SX is a 486SX clone brain, with superior performance.
In this video: 1) Figuring out a burned chipset. 2) Swapping the chipset, fixing all problems. 3) Full MB457 M/B Review, Modding, Optimization. 4) Benchmarking of the UMC U5SX CPU. 5) Comparisons with 486SX and 486SX2.

And for sure I am giving it a 486SXLC treatment. I also include a mini soldering tutorial this time.
The clock doubler finally worked! Even thought this is not a 486SXLC2 chip. Many unexpected things happened against common sense. Unstable in the beginning, but in the end it worked 100%!

Back in 2003 ATI decided to Clock Lock all Low-end and Mid-range GPUs. This includes all Radeon models from the 9000 to the 9600. This is so SAD... It makes me cry, for real. T-T
So in this video I present all the ways to circumvent this lock. :D This includes software Tools, Modded Drivers, and BIOS Modding. A lot of different tools are used here: ATITool, RaBiT, FlashRom. So this is a nice mini Tutorial on all these methods.
In theory the same tools can be used to unlock pipes on certain models. This is not covered here, as I do not have any of these cards (9500 and 9800SE). I might explain this in a future video.
Addition: The RaBiT Tool can directly open the Bios running on you GPU. With the option: Open, OnBoard EEPROM

Clarification: The de-turbo function here probably does not actually halve the clock. This is a complicated topic. The chip-set most likely idles the bus for 2/3 of the time. I modded my 386SX Lab Rat with a 486SXLC2 CPU. It is advised to first check my Video review of this M/B: youtu.be/MiOfbpbrDW0
The 486SXLC2 is the top 16bit bus, Cyrix based, 386 replacement CPU! It features 8KB of integrated L1 Cache and a clock doubler.
- The mod was a success! The results were mixed. - I do not wand to spoil this too much in the description. - Lots of tweaks, benchmarks and interesting conclusions in this Video. - I also broke my 386SX Overclocking record (more maybe possible).
* There is something important I missed (said wrong) in this video. * The OP1 is NOT the Flush signal, it is the A20 than connects to the keyboard controller. * Flush is not connected on the CPU here. I mixed these two a they are next to each other. * A20 is needed for the correct operation of the L1 cache (with the 64k boundary option enabled). * This explains the behavior when I played with the different flags in the cyrix utility. * I will come with an update video on this topic (along with some other stuff).
Now, I am not going to put these CPU modules into the store. But if someone is really interested we can discus this.

The last one was done in the most elegant way by just adding a resistor and changing 3 others. The result is that by using the same 3 jumpers this can now be configured to 8 different Vcore settings. Form 3.66v to 4.36v with a step of ~0.1v.
Correction! The deference between Electrolytic and Polymer Caps is in the Dielectric (not electrolyte). The fist type has an Electrolyte Dielectric . The second has a Solid Polymer Dielectric .

I designed this this PC/104 Sound Card in an professional way.
Specs: - ESS ES1869F (SB, SBp, WSS, ESFM) - SAM2695 MIDI Synthesizer - Game Port - CD Audio in - PC Speaker in - Modern High quality Power Amplifier
In the second part of the video there are some Audio recordings. I tested some games. The focus is on PCSPK vs FMsynth vs MIDI. Maybe I did not set the mixer perfectly in all these examples here.
I hope you enjoined this video. Give me your feedback ^^Pentium MMX (Tillamook core) overclocked to 420MHz. Faster than K6-2 ?Atheatos2021-03-09 | It is time to relive some of the experiences I had with PCs as a teenager. The Intel Pentium MMX was the first CPU I ever overclocked! So here I am 20 years later with an overclock of the Tillamook to 420MHz.

These are Dream SAM2695 based, General MIDI synthesizers with Gameport interface. Dream SAM2695 is the chip used in the very popular Dreamblaster S2. So my synthesizer boards have similar performance. The main difference is the interface change from the wavetable header to gameport. It is like intergrading a Dreamblaster S2 and an Gameport adapter into one.
But you also get some extras here: The basic G_Dream is so small that fits inside the standard DB15 connector! The G_Dream_Max has Gameport pass through and the ability to drive headphones.
I hope you liked these two creations. Leave me a comment. Like Subscribe so that you will not loose any updates!

I just made the fastest possible (50ns), Fast Page Mode (FPM), Simm-30 memory modules with parity functionality.
Custom, brand new, professionally done PCBs. High quality 50ns Infineon chips (New-Old-Stock). These are 4MB modules, for 16MB per kit of 4.
I have no idea if something like that was ever produced. I have never seen FPM modules faster than 60ns.
Unfortunately, until now I have not found any way to push these modules to the limit. My 386, 486 collection is very limited and with my boards even with generic 60ns modules you can basically max-out all settings. I will continue looking into this, so subscribe if you do not want to miss any updates.

In the first part I have some corrections to the first Video. Then I discus the AGP optimizations for ALi SS7 motherboards.
Finally I pushed this motherboard to the max and I achieved: A 124Mhz bus with the M/B cache enabled and all the optimizations on! Using my K6-III+ an overclock speed of 5 x 124 = 620 MHz was achieved.

This video is a complete review of this motherboard, including an in-depth optimization guide! Some o the tips also apply to other SS7 and ALi motherboards in general.
Finally we have a 600Mhz showdown of K6-2, K6-2+ and K6-3+ processors. In total 16 different configurations were measured in 12 benchmarks!!
There are VGA cards that can be faster that the FX5900XT for SS7 in some benchmarks / games. This is not the topic of this video, I will probably cover this at an other time.
Corrections on the V_I/O, Bus stability topic. Here I run my tests at the 3.5V setting. V_I/O plays a role in Bus stability. Also at higher bus rates, the 1MB M/B had better stability.

With ALi motherboards it is important to install the AGP Driver. Sometimes when you install the VGA driver after that, some of the AGP drivers files are replaced. This causes the monitor to go black every few seconds and the system is unstable. The solution is to reinstall the AGP driver. Ver 1.9 is what I used. drive.google.com/file/d/1FdFzMeSN3ceMfyuqRrvL30DWn_CN_3pu/view
