Some parts show a date code of 80s but this instrument was probably designed before due the vintage technology like the vacuum tube servo control amplifier.The pressure ratio is performed using two aneroid capsules orthogonally mounted. The orthogonal torsion forces provide a rotation of a shaft. The angular position of the shaft corresponds to the vectorial sum of these two forces, therefore the angle is a function of the ratio of the two pressures. This angular position is measured using a servo control loop. The motor of the servo control is linked to a yoke which can rotate around the shaft. A capacitor with two armatures and a central plate permits to detect the deviation between the yoke and the angular position of the shaft. The external armatures of the capacitor are supplied with two out-of-phase AC signals in order to have a null AC voltage when the inner plate which represents the angle to be measured is centered. A vacuum tube amplifier is used for the amplification of the error voltage. The amplifier output is fed to the AC motor of the servo control. The dual layer non-plated through hole PCB without solder mask nor conformal coating has resulted in a solder joint crack. Someone attempted to repair this instrument (maybe because of this issue) and one 4-pins Darlington transistor was not fitted correctly during this repair.Internal circuits: the input signal is fed to a comparator which delivers a square wave signal. This signal is fed to a discrete monostable which delivers a rectangular signal. The duty cycle and therefore the mean value is proportional to the input frequency. After filtering the DC voltage created is used as the input of a servo control loop. The feedback device is a potentiometer.
