Forefowk, Mind Me - Place as elder, horse as kin, and story as becoming.
'Forefowk, Mind Me' is a research, development and recording project that explores the idea of ancestors and place (and what it means to be cared for by, and care for, these things). This short film is a documentation of its gathering phase.
In April 2024 Quinie spent a week with artist Dominique Rivard, filmmaker Lizzie McKenzie, her horse Maisie, and dog Toad. Together they explored the landscapes of Argyll (namely Ford, Kilmartin Glen, Tayvallich and Carsaigs). Along the way they gathered stories, connections, place names, songs, routes, objects, and language. Together with the help of many people, they thought about the interdependent relationship between people, ancestors, animals and place.
