I use a lot of 3rd party watch bands for my Garmin Fenix 7X. They are low cost at around $11 each, plenty of color and style choices, and having a number of them means I can switch them up according to my mood.

I have never had one of these fail, however when I am racing in triathlon I always revert back to the black Garmin QuickFit band that came with the Fenix 7X when I bought it new. I feel that for the harsher environment of a triathlon I'll take the reliability of a Garmin branded product over a 3rd party one.
Once the race is done I'll switch back to a more colorful watch band. This video shows how quickly this can be done.
