You will want to use lock lube/dry lube over WD-40 because WD-40 is a solvent. Although people use WD-40 as a lube, it actually isn't. So when you use it in a lock, it doesn't really lubricate it and will just evaporate and run through your lock stripping any existing lube.
Using dry lube, it comes out as a very thin liquid then quickly dries into a grease film in tight areas. This is ideal for locks which is why it is specifically recommended for just that purpose. This is a near-permanent solution to difficult to turn tumblers.
