We sculpt foam rocks for the faux stone wall and go over some carving tools and techniques we're using to make this giant MOTU He-Man Castle Grayskull toy playset. We share a few of my go to foam carving tools and some foam sculpting techniques I used to make rocks on the towers of this custom He-Man Castle Grayskull sculpture. This is a great way to achieve an easy or realistic faux stone look for walls, props, or decor using Foam. We are missing the vintage He-Man Castle Grayskull fortress of mystery and power and right as we were getting ready to try and purchase one or a newer version like the MOTU Origins Castle Grayskull we were like let's just make an epic size custom MOTU Castle Grayskull playset for our son. Heck let's make it into a Castle Bed/Playhouse. In this fourth video of the MOTU castle series we focus on carving foam and a little cutting with our DIY foam cutter, glue and attach the large foam blocks together, and carve and sculpt the project using several different tools for sculpting foam. Some of our favorites are rasps, files, rifflers, curry combs, hand saws, keyhole saws, sandpaper, wire brushes, and homemade nail brushes to name a few. We will try and base the design off the look of original Castle Grayskull in the early Alfredo Alcala Masters of the Universe mini comics and the original sculpt for the prototype by Mark Taylor. We started by framing the wood structure then attached white bead foam Styrofoam with Great Stuff expanding foam and have started carving the shape. Once the sculpture is finished the plan is to hard coat the giant skull with fiberglass. We will incorporate a few things he can do to interact his action figures with the castle. We may even try to make the interior based off the toy playset. The paint scheme will try to stay close to the original toy line from the 80s. We even thought adding an area like the evil Horde slime pit Masters of the Universe Mattel playset. That way he can play with ooze some where in the castle. We may even take a few inspirations from the He-Man animation and he-man and the masters of the universe tv program cartoon full episodes. We also had fun re creating an old 80s Snake Mountain TV commercial. Join us as we try to capture the true Spirit of Grayskull and solve all the many mysteries behind the making of this epic build.
