As the State of the Nation Address approaches, we appeal to The Presidency of the Republic of South Africa to recognise and protect the rights of the LGBTQI+ community! With the rise of anti-LGBTQI+ rhetorics and the anti-gender movement. It is important that President Cyril Ramaphosa makes concrete commitments towards protecting these marginalised groups as well as ensures that state resources will be allocated towards ending discrimination and violence against LGBQTI+ people.
In this video Peaceworth Maquba speaks to the importance of allocating state resources towards gender-affirming healthcare in such a way that is inclusive to intersex and transgender communities. They also speak to the importance of sensitising healthcare professionals to ensure that they are equip to assist these marginalised communities.
