In an homage to video game music stylings, 'Commuter Focus' pulls inspiration from a number of disparate genres, but blends them together into a cohesive package by utilizing a similar set of voices.
Tracks like 'Eggshells' and 'Exist 4 Cute' pull in classic chiptune-esque sounds and melodies. Meanwhile, tracks like 'Imbiber' pay respects to psychedelic dub, and 'Frost Kill' explores Jazz, Rock, and DnB.
Music written during travels and commutes using Caustic 3 for Android. Visuals in TouchDesigner.
Composed, Produced, Mixed, Mastered, Album Art, Visualizer by George Gleixner.

I was asked to perform as part of the showcase and opted to focus on music this time around, and to give my chiptune focused project Broken Alias some attention, with Erin Wajufos (of Never Knows Better) providing some stellar accompanying visual projections. This 1 hour set was a sort of 'mobile music showcase' for me, utilizing unreleased material from 3 upcoming albums which were written and performed using LSDJ on the Nintendo Gameboy, the Dirtywave M8 portable tracker, and Caustic 3 - a DAW for mobile. I also decided to lug six of my CRT Scopes across town to display the music's waveforms (and, subsequently, think a lot about that exhausting choice).
Thanks so much to Erin and Anto who curated the showcase for having me, Erin for the custom live visuals, Dolphinuppercut who shot and cut together this video (during the event!), and all those who had kind words or just stuck around 🕹🎵
Be sure to check out all the other talent that was a part of this fantastic live A/V showcase, as well as the host of the event, Millenium Film Workshop in Brooklyn!

I'm very grateful for the opportunity to have played a part in All Day I Dream at The Brooklyn Mirage for the first time this year, as this is an event that's typically been without a visual accompaniment in the space. For use on this season's new LED wall, a custom controllable generative visual system was built out for the show and performed with over the course of the 10 hour event.
It was an exciting challenge to bring such a large new creative element to the show that stayed fairly unassuming and scenic in nature, so as not to detract from what the show is meant to be, while still staying dynamic and evolving throughout the event - especially during the shift from day to night. Some live network editing in TouchDesigner throughout the show helped to keep things exciting, and allowed the backdrop to truly grow and evolve spontaneously as the show went on.
*Unfortunately my widest lens just didn't cut it for this one - hence the panning and whatnot. Lesson learned, wider fish-eye lens acquired! I'd recommend checking out the photos in the post linked above.
Many thank yous to Billy for the opportunity, the whole ADID team for the trust afforded me while working a new creative element into the show, and those with reassuring kind words post-show.

Best practice I didn't mention due to it being negligible in this case - use a texture SOP on your dog components post-merge for proper texture application. The fine-grain noise made it look fine without bothering. I don't know why I do these things. Is there an audience for dry long-form touchdesigner 'humor?'

The night featured some intimate, groovy sets by DJ Seinfeld, Black Loops, and Haruka.
My role was to help plan & develop the visuals & analog tech, and integrate them into the venue's show-specific installations:
• DJ booth backdrop contained 8x modded CRT TVs receiving audio feeds, each displaying real-time waveforms via the internal deflection circuits. (gleix.net/crtscope)
Massive 40+ CRT wall installation by CRT superheroes Smooth Canoe (instagram.com/smoothcanoe_) being fed:
• Analog visuals generated via the DIY video modular + mx12 feedback loops
• Audience facing analog camera feed + glitch processing via the Sync Eater + custom breakout box in front of the wall to give the audience some basic physical controls over the glitch processing
• Custom real-time branded visual systems in Touchdesigner + live glitch processing via the Sync Eater
• Wall projection displaying a collection of analog CCTV Cam + Sync Eater + CRT TV feedback loops

This is an album I focused on heavily over the course of a few years. I funneled all of myself (and free time) into it, and it's taken a lot of time for me to finally release it, having finished it 3-4 years ago. This ~40 minute gapless album is my largest and most personal work, and I'm still very proud of the material.
Part of me thought there would be some perfect scenario & accompaniment for its release, but unrealistic expectations only allowed me to continue delaying it while becoming more detached from the material. Part of me also had trouble building out a bigger release scenario for it after completing the music due to the associations that I have with it.
I can't put it off any longer, though. It's a thorn in my side I'm ready to yank out; I'm excited to share it with the world and move forward.
This album explores elements of IDM, ambient, breakcore/drill n' bass, classical, and a series of other genres while drifting through a patchwork of melodic atmospheres and excessively detailed rhythm sections. Composed using hardware synthesizers, home built machines, soft synths and a collection of personal recordings, Anxiety Dreams oscillates between emotions - a series of calm moments are punctuated by intense, fast-paced psychedelic dysphoria in an attempt to navigate a sonic landscape which has been primarily informed by hardships and nightmares.
To all of those who provided feedback and supported me during its long development, who've heard nearly every iteration, and who know how long this album was in the works - thank you.
Two singles from this release, 'Data Will Call' & 'Anhedonics Anonymous' are currently available @ gleix.bandcamp.com & on streaming services.

M8 came last week and I haven't been able to put it down - the hype around this thing is completely warranted. This project started as me wanting to make a quick key-press viewer and I got kinda sucked into it, thought I'd share the project in case other M8 users are interested. Additional features may be added and noted on the github.
Please note that this isn't an official version of the Dirtywave M8 Display App - just a personal project built on top of the original that I wanted to share. Functionality is not guaranteed.

The Sync Eater is an analog video effects processor which boasts a series of knobs, switches, buttons, and CV inputs making it suitable for both studio & live use. With a focus on glitch visuals achieved through experimentation, it easily slots into any composite video workflow where a classic distorted analog style is desired. This release model utilizes custom PCBs, PCB mounted controls, and a silkscreen printed front panel.

Like I mention in the video, I think trying to recreate things you're familiar with is a fantastic way to learn new software - especially in the case of Touchdesigner! Once you start to understand how the building blocks work, and learn a few different techniques, you can start to easily break things down into combinations of simple functions. If you have any requests for 'recreation' tutorials in Touchdesigner let me know, I love tackling things like this!

This performance utilizes a fully DIY modular audiovisual synthesizer, a collection of custom controllable systems built in Touchdesigner, and a CRT TV which has been modified into an pseudo-oscilloscope receiving dedicated audio & video feeds to generate colored waveforms.
Three 60Hz tones are generated by the AV modular representing the three RGB color channels, panned left, center, and right respectively. These three underlying tones, which the piece is fully built around, have harmonics which shift depending on the shape of the individual color channels in the image, with peaks of amplitude being built for each color's pixels as the image is scanned through on each refresh of the video signal. Additional waveform generators and simple oscillators are injected into the color channels and 'played' in tune with the underlying tones by dialing in exact frequencies, which at multiples of 60Hz, will also form stable scanlines in the receiving color channel.
Touchdesigner serves as a collection of controllable systems for handling & manipulating audio, video output from the modular, as a standalone visual system, to introduce generative elements and contained-randomness when triggering external audio elements and visual subsystems, and for general data & MIDI processing. Percussive elements, rhodes, and additional audio processing in FL Studio.

To be more specific here, it's a 3018 ProVer which is made by Sainsmart which, yes, can engrave aluminum with some effort. And this wasn't soft aluminum either. Just took a bit of effort and patience in testing different bits, speeds & feeds to get the desired result. This one was done by painting & clear-coating the panel and then engraving the paint away. A manual height map was made as well. I had done an automatic probed height map before painting it, but the panel warped during the process of getting the component holes drilled out.
I might consider making a step-by-step video on how I got to this point in the future for anybody curious about doing their own front panels at home - I think this machine is fairly capable for this sort of thing.

The enclosure was customized based on client requests in dark green with white splatters. Sort of a minty vibe. The name “Winter Freeze” comes from the enclosure theme, and also the feature which this is the first to utilize - image freezing. This device also refines the "alternate pixel mode" mod from previous versions.
