Wither confronts R and severs their friendly partnership upon realising his ulterior motives for Leif.

After Linda's death, R approached Wither with a gift. Apathy towards others, so she could focus undeterred on Leif's interests. As he suggested things and seemed to be trying to help Wither help Leif, he was actually speaking lies and awful things to her, setting her own trap for his pleasure.

Wither, upon realising this, after seeing R do such after and during Alan's assaults on her, confronts the spid-R and demands to sever their partnership.

Wither is filled with overwhelming feelings of betrayal, as she genuinely trusted and counted on R.

But now she knows she must do this alone. For Leif's sake and hers.
