Sometimes people like to discuss "What are the worst fighting games of all time?". If you don't have Tao Taido somewhere on that list, then clearly you never played it. This game feels like absolute dogwater to play, with an insanely dumb special move system that results in some of the silliest-looking special moves of all time. Video System had NO fuckin idea what they were doing with this, nothing about it feels right. Even weirder, besides the 2-button version there's a 6-button version in MAME that's highly undocumented (because nobody wants to play this). It's been so ignored that MAME didn't even have the inputs for P2's kick buttons mapped correctly, but thanks to TheOpponent that should be fixed in the upcoming MAME 0.290.

Id never actually properly finished Thunder Force IV (or Lightening Force as it was known in the US), so I figured it was time to give it another shot.
I didnt really like it that much! Obviously I knew it was going to be memorization-heavy but there are some really obnoxious gotcha moments. I also didnt like how tall a lot of stages were vertically because its a lot to keep track of. I just didnt seem to have much fun with it. I did end up 1CCing it eventually on Normal, but didnt really feel like bothering with the harder difficulties. Probably wont be coming back to this to try to get the rest of the cheevos on this one Im afraid.")
