The very well-known section of the Rig Veda known as the Purusha Sukta is recognized as one of the most important and straight-forwardly philosophical sections of the Rig Veda. This famous hymn, consisting of 24 verses, has been formally commented upon, written about and speculated upon by a vast variety of scholars and gurus over the last several millennia. In this very special livestream series, Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya will provide his own commentary on these sacred verses from the perspective of the orthodox and traditional Vedic system.
"From (His) navel was produced the antariksha (the space between the earth and the heavens). Dyuloka (the heavenly realm) came into existence from His head. The Bhumi (the earth) evolved out of His feet, and the spacial directions from His ears. Similarly (the demigods) produced the worlds (too)." (Rig Veda, 10.90.15)
"I know (through intuitive experience) this great Purusha (the Supreme Person), the wise one, who, having created the various forms (rupani) and the nomenclatures (namani) for those forms, deals with them by those names, and who is beyond darkness and is brilliant like the sun." (Rig Veda, 10.90.16)
"In the ancient days, Prajapati (Brahma) praised Him. Indra who knows all the four quarters also spoke about Him. Anyone who knows Him thus, will become immortal even in this life. For attaining liberation there is no other path than knowledge of this Purusha, the Supreme Person." (Rig Veda, 10.90.17)
