In 1964, renowned novelist Roald Dahl authored one of the most well-known pieces of literature of all time— Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. His work was eventually adapted to film as the highly acclaimed and beloved Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. These stories have inspired generations of children and adults to imagine the impossible; and was the inspiration for a surreal, chocolate-factory dungeon within a homebrew tabletop RPG.
Pure Imagination (Dark) is the second out of a two-part atmospheric series. The 2 tracks are reflective of two particular scenes in the film, as well as both sides of the human imagination: the potential for innovative, creative thought and fear as a crucible for hatred, isolation, and nightmares.
This track was inspired by the surreal and disturbing scene where Willy Wonka takes his guests on a boat ride through a tunnel of fear, where images of crawling worms and a chicken being decapitated persist in memory as one of the more frightening scenes of the film.
