This part describes the divisions of South Asia called "Bhārata's Nine Khandas or Dvīpas". It also describes the islands and continents of Bharata-Varsha that lie in the ocean (Lavana Samudra) close to India then further away. These are known as Bhārata's Upadvīpas or Anudvīpas in Purāṇas like the Srimad Bhāgavatam and Vāyu Purāṇa.
***Vayu Purana Correction at 6.00 - "udyana-makara" translates to 'garden of crocodiles', which indicates the lush Sundarbans of the Ganga Delta. Udyana does not mean Odisha, therefore Indradvipa refers to Bengal, Bangladesh and beyond in the Vayu & Brahmanda Puranas.
