Hi berry sweet bakers! Do you know what we love just as much as our delicious baking treats? Our special furry friends! So, today we’re making extra delicious pupcakes just for our fuzzy pals.
These treats are made with dog-friendly ingredients and baked with lots of love.
What You’ll Need
Pupcake Batter
● 1 ripe banana
● 1 large egg
● 1 cup shredded carrots (baby carrots work great)
● 1/3 cup peanut butter
● 1/4 cup coconut oil
● 1/4 cup honey
● 1/3 cup whole-wheat flour
● 1 cup quick 1-minute oats
● 1 teaspoon baking soda
● 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pup Frosting
● 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
● 1 tablespoon pure honey
● 1 tablespoon cornstarch
● 1/2 tablespoon alfalfa or spirulina powder (optional, for green swirl fun)
Berry important first step!
Ask a grown-up to help set the oven to 325°F and move the rack to the middle.
Let’s Bake the Pupcakes
1. Prep the Pan
Line a 12-cup muffin pan with cupcake liners.
2. Blend It All Together
Add all the pupcake ingredients into a food processor or blender.
Blend until everything is mixed together. The batter will be a little lumpy and thick, like applesauce. That’s perfect.
3. Fill the Liners
Spoon the batter evenly into the cupcake liners. Each one will be almost full to the top.
4. Bake Time
Bake for about 20 minutes. Don’t overbake.
Ask a grown-up to help check with a toothpick. A tiny bit of batter is okay, but it shouldn’t look wet.
5. Cool Down
Let the pupcakes cool completely before frosting. Good pups wait patiently.
Pupcake’s Swirly Frosting Fun
1. Mix the Frosting
In a large bowl, add all the frosting ingredients.
Use an electric mixer to beat until fluffy and smooth.
2. Make It Extra Fun
For a Strawberry Shortcake-style swirl, split the frosting into two bowls.
Leave one bowl plain and mix the alfalfa powder into the other to make it green.
3. Create the Swirl
Lay out a long piece of plastic wrap.
Spoon lines of plain and green frosting side by side, alternating colors.
Roll it up gently, twist the ends, and snip one end open.
4. Frost the Pupcakes
Place the frosting roll into a piping bag and swirl frosting on each cooled pupcake.
Pupcake’s No-Bake PB Bone Ornament
● Peanut Butter
● Oats
● Water
● Cinnamon
1. Mix the No-Bake Batter
In a large bowl, add the peanut butter, oats, water, and cinnamon.
Hand mix until blended.
2. Roll It Out
Roll the dough out to about 1/4-1/2” thick between two sheets of parchment paper.
3. Freeze It
Place it in the freezer for 15-30 minutes in order to harden it up.
4. Cut It
Now it is time to cut the “bones” out with a small cookie cutter. They are ready to place on top of our pupcakes!
