Mmm, pumpkin! As a special treat, we picked one of our organic pumpkins (grown in tortoise manure, as a matter of fact). Then we washed it, smashed it, scooped out the seeds and brought it to the tortoise yard for our Aldabra tortoises to enjoy. Tank and Samson were thrilled!
These herbivores eat grasses and woody plants in the wild, on the Aldabra atoll in the Seychelles islands off the north coast of Madagascar. At Reptile Gardens, we provide hay plus 3 fresh salads a week with lettuce, zucchini, yams and other produce.
