So how did they do this 50 to 100 years ago? No transistors etc., so how? Maybe by using parametrics.
*Yes, by touching the diode I am adding heat and that is how it is tuned. As it starts to cool after touching the frequency shifts past the resonance point of the circuit and energy and coherence drops. Add a bit more heat to tune and back in business. Of course this is primitive, yet it shows very well how simple it really can be.
