On Wednesday March 26, 2025, Pulitzer on the Road was in Detroit for a conversation on cultural criticism today.
Pulitzer prize winners and finalists in the Criticism category: 2024 winner Justin Chang (film critic at The New Yorker, and winner for his film criticism at the Los Angeles Times), 2021 and 2012 winner Wesley Morris (culture critic at The New York Times) and 2023 finalist Lyndsay C. Green (food and restaurant critic at the Detroit Free Press).
These critics were in conversation with Pulitzer Board member, Dean of Columbia Journalism School, and 2018 finalist for Commentary, Jelani Cobb. Together they discussed writing on film, food, and popular culture, and the evolving role of the critic.
