Soprano Gabriella Reyes and opera expert Williams Berger share the Latino/a experience of La Boheme by Puccini in anticipation of the July performance of Bravo!Vail Music Festival’s presentation of Puccini’s "La Bohème" with The Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
Berger is an author, opera expert and Sirius Metropolitan Opera radio host; Reyes, who will be singing the role of Musetta, is a Nicaraguan-American Soprano.
Have you seen Puccini’s "La bohème?" Perhaps you learned to play “Musetta’s Waltz” in piano lessons as a child? Have you seen the Broadway musical “Rent?” Whatever your level of familiarization with the story, this event will open the doors to understanding the world and story of "La Bohème." Berger and Reyes will have an authentically bilingual conversation about factoring in the Latin point of view to Puccini, his works and the culture of his realism. They will provide a more in-depth and augmented understanding of the context of La bohème rooted in their own experiences growing up around a multilingual opera.
