Public anger after garbage is allegedly scattered along Xeres Road
Residents of Carlsen Field were greeted by a large mess along Xeres Road on Monday morning, prompting a call for answers from St. Mary’s/Carlsen Field Councillor Vishan Mohammed.
Mohammed shared a video showing garbage scattered along the roadway and questioned how the area was left in that condition following a collection exercise.
In a public appeal, the councillor called on the contractor responsible for garbage collection in the area to come forward, address the situation and ensure the site is properly cleaned.
Mohammed said the service is funded with public money and argued that residents deserve accountability for the standard of work being delivered.
“Mr. Contractor, you are being paid with public money to collect garbage — not scatter it,” Mohammed said.
He urged residents and members of the public to share the video in an effort to identify the contractor and have the matter addressed.
The councillor also appealed for the mess to be cleaned, stressing that maintaining clean communities requires responsibility from both service providers and those tasked with monitoring public services.
Mohammed is now calling for answers — and action — to ensure the garbage is removed and the area restored.— Story by I.A.N News
