This is an ambient track from P.T. More info below!

This track is composed of two parts:
1.) The Infinite Red Halls
2.) The short sequence right after where the screen starts glitching out and the game "crashes".

The reason I wanted sounds of footsteps and moving is because that makes it easier for people to relate to. By now everyone has either played or watched someone play P.T., so the sounds of footsteps and such have been ingrained in our minds. It may not be immediately apparent, but the sounds of footsteps and moving IS part of the ambient track. It's all part of the same experience, and it felt natural to leave it in the track itself. It will help you recapture that feeling of dread and oppressiveness, as those sounds are familiar to you now.

I'm going to go ahead and say that this may have come from Akira Yamaoka. It feels so much like something he would come up with. Until there's confirmation he DIDN'T compose this, I'll say he did.

In fact, there are three moments in particular that are strikingly similar to past Yamaoka works:

1.) The SH2 Dull Cycles

That is from Silent Hill 2. It's the room at Woodside Apartments where James has to go and retrieve a key to a clock, and the room is full of butterflies and empty butterfly cages. The ambient music in this room is a very dull, low cyclical thumping of sorts. It's very disturbing.

And in the red hallways of P.T. (at 1:05 and 2:16 in the video) this same exact kind of extremely low, dull cyclical sound can be heard (more specifically, if you stand still and wait. The music seems to dynamically change if you stop moving in the red halls). And the music that appears is extremely similar to Silent Hill 2's butterfly room.

2.) The SH3 Intro/Valtiel Scene

That's the introductory sequence from SH3. Right at the beginning of the clip you can hear a...well it's hard to describe. But it's a sound SH fans are familiar with.

And in P.T., this same type of sounds can be heard during the Loop right before the game "crashes" (3:35 and on).

3.) The SH3 Rising Church Wails

youtube.com/watch?v=BszSjECtIJI

In SH3, right after you open the door in Alessa's room and before you enter the room with Vincent and Claudia, you have to run through a winding corridor. In this corridor is a sort of ambient wailing.

In P.T., a very similar ambience is pretty much pervading the entire Red Halls loop (coincidentally enough, both tracks are near scenes where you can find a fetus. For P.T. it's in the sink, and for SH3 Heather coughs one up).

You tell me that that this all isn't from the same guy!

(By the way there is no track #2. This is pretty much the only ambience from P.T.)
