Something I did for fun. I wanted to learn how to rip sounds and this game was my first attempt at it (okay, not really, my first sound rip was from a PC Engine game).
Didn't do anything fancy with these, just presenting these as how they were written in the code. I also wanted to showcase how there are slight differences in the samples in each version.
HOW I DID IT:
Using Audacity, go to Import, then Raw Data. Open the file, set the Encoding to "ADPCM VOX", set Channels to "1 Channel (Mono)", and change the Sampling Rate to 8000 Hz (8 kHz). Presto! It works!
You do this by opening each of the appropriate ROM files. Rinse and repeat.

The theme song to the game, Thanatos, for 8-bit computers such as the ZX Spectrum and the Amstrad CPC. Theres also a version for the C64 that was arranged by the one and only Rob Hubbard.
I based my cover off of the Amstrad CPC version, the deeper notes gave it a more somber and melancholic feel to it. I also wanted to give this a bit of a JRPG feel to it, something youd expect to hear on the PC-88.

An arrangement of R3s Chemical City, or alternatively titled, Cant Take It Anymore. Chemical City is the final level in the game, Toree Genesis, where you play as a bird running around at the speed of sound. As you can probably guess, the games are inspired greatly by Sonic the Hedgehog, and Toree Genesis is no exception since that game was made to commemorate the 31st anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog! The song is a nice blend of various styles. You have these FM instruments, some NES sounds, and some drum samples from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It all meshes perfectly well. Compositionally, the chord progressions are very top-notch. Ill be honest here, the chords were probably the hardest part when covering this. Haha! The drum samples used (along with some vocal samples) gave the original tune lots of character, something I was hoping to replicate with the MT-32. I wasnt very successful with it since most of these sounds are extremely cheesy. XD I hope you all enjoy this!
