High speed chase in Detroit. From news article supplied by Jeff Snyder: "Two men suspected in an armed carjacking incident in Eastpointe on Wednesday led police on a miles-long chase through three counties where speeds reached 80-100 mph before crashing in Sterling Heights, according to police. Two other suspects involved in the incident are also in police custody. The incident started around 11 a.m. at a Dollar General store on Gratiot Avenue north of Eight Mile Road when police received a 911 call reporting a carjacking, said Eastpointe Public Safety Director George Rouhib. One of the men was armed with a gun, the caller told dispatchers. Two of the suspects had pulled up at the store in a silver Kia Soul. After the robbery, two male accomplices fled in the carjacked vehicle.
Eastpointe police using "proven police techniques" and coordinating with officers from neighboring Harper Woods Police Department located the carjacked vehicle on a side street near Gratiot and State Fair in Detroit. Police said the Kia, which was stolen in Roseville on March 27, was located by Detroit officers. It may have been used in an armed robbery in Harper Woods on Wednesday."
