Howard Wilkinson received the 2020 Allard Prize for International Integrity. His whistleblowing reports revealed that an estimated $236 billion's worth of money laundering passed through Danske Bank's Estonian branch. "I think what he did was principled and correct, but also incredibly brave, and it deserves greater recognition than it's received."
This video explains the circumstances under which Wilkinson discovered the money laundering, his response to it, and his name being leaked - a violation of his rights as a whistleblower.
"Even though we can't be sure about the dimensions of this problem, and we can't be sure how much money we're talking about, we are more sure - or less unsure - than we were because of Howard Wilkinson's exposure of Danske bank's crimes."
