In a world where Xbox 360 games run so well on Xbox Series X and even Xbox One, why doesn't PS5 have a decent PlayStation 3 emulator? We tried to find out by running the RPCS3 emulator under PS5 Linux to get an idea of how the very best PS3 emulator operates on the Quintuple's architecture. We see some huge potential upgrades over original hardware - but the exotic, bespoke nature of the Cell processor remains the single biggest obstacle in revisiting PS3 games that were never ported or remastered for subsequent PlayStation consoles.

Outlive 25 is a full remaster of a cult Brazilian real-time strategy game that was perhaps overlooked on its release in Western markets back in 2001. In this video, Alex returns to the roots of the game and the environment it was developed in, while revisiting its 2D pre-rendered art - which was criticised at the time but explains how its visuals have aged gracefully over the years. So gracefully in fact, that the game still holds up nicely in the Outlive 25 remaster with its higher-resolution assets, widescreen UI, campaign tweaks and added content.
