Nitrocosm | PS2 Startup Sound: A Re-creation Attempt @Nitrocosm | Uploaded November 2020 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
UPDATE: I make a more recent attempt in this video: youtube.com/watch?v=UjywaIhbIbs
In this video, I attempt to loosely re-create the startup sound for the Playstation 2 using the audio samples in the BIOS. It's not a perfect reproduction but it demonstrates how the sounds are arranged and layered in a general sense. The original composition and sound samples were created by Takafumi Fujisawa.
NOTE: The audio samples for the BIOS are easy to extract from the BIOS file using a program called "PSound": http://snailrush.online.fr/ I cannot redistribute the copyrighted BIOS file or the samples contained within it.

1:48 Loading the samples into TX16Wx
5:34 Setting attack and release envelopes
7:39 Adding a secondary output for reverb on some tracks
8:27 Playing the sounds of the ocean
8:43 Project MIDI track setup
9:16 The notes (as guessed - not exact!)
12:08 Conclusion
