It's been a dramatic day in Melbourne as protests against a weapons expo turned violent.

Demonstrators led by a coalition of groups opposed to the war in Gaza clashed repeatedly with police, leading to dozens of arrests and numerous injuries to police officers.

With the expo running until Friday, the unrest may not be over yet.
