If you've ever wanted to get your Arduino project into a more hostile environment for electronics than your desk.... coating your board may be the way to go... More info and links below....

PCB Conformal coatings come in a variety of clear and coloured options, spray and liquid. Once you have coated your board it should be able to survive without corroding over time, as well as in humid and wet environments.

A cheap alternative is clear nail polish, which can be brushed on to apply to your project, and gives virtually the same protection as a professional coating. If you need some specific environmental resistance (acid, alcohol etc...) then check the specific characteristics of the coating, as often they cannot resist everything in a single option.
