In Column 6, e-architect’s Joel Solkoff discussed with Wyoming AIA Chair Colleen Nelson the practicality of building a city of three million people in her county. Fremont County.
There is room in Fremont County for half a dozen towns of three million people. However, much of Fremont County, in a recent federal decision, is now owned by two Native American tribes. To build a town would require their agreement. I am told that is not easy. Plus, there is the issue of alcohol. Alcohol was the deciding factor. I do not want to live in a City where I cannot order a Martini. To change federal law prohibiting the sale of alcohol on Indian reservations where genetic disposition to alcoholism is a serious problem…My mind boggled.
Both Collen Nelson and Chris Mickey, Media & Public Relations Manager, Wyoming Office of Tourism recommended that I look south east in Wyoming to Albany County where there is plenty of room for a three million people and very few people.
