Proposed lyrics to Wendi Shi Music's composition Eastern Wind. The original can be found at
Text of the proposed lyrics follow:
Colored silks and painted dragons, fireworks in hand-pulled wagons, such a pretty sight for all to see.
Rice and fish or tender chicken, spicy food that waits to kick in, recipes from far across the sea.
Most western cities have a section or a shop at the least,
where they show off several goods that are found in the Far East.
What would I see if I could go, where real Eastern winds start to blow?
Would I see the West in a different way expressed?
Happy smiles and painted faces, dancing girls in crowded places, music playing loudly in the air.
Proudly showing Asian culture as we watch in awe and wonder while we walk the streets inside the fair.
Culture we show with pride should unify and not divide because it shows the heritage we bear.
As we drop our preconceptions beauty in such proud traditions seem to grow and flourish everywhere.
I know the earth seems so much smaller than it did in the past.
I just hope as cultures blend that such beauty will still last.
Maybe someday I'll get to see the lands where these things used to be.
I hope they will see how I love diversity.
Kites are built and neatly painted as the children get acquainted with the skill the lets them fly so high.
Painted scrolls and incense burning sets my restless heart to churning hoping for this trip before I die.
I imagine being there with all the things I treasure here and learning what is real and what is show.
Those who never go in person let their misconceptions worsen and they're things they never get to know.
I would like to feel the Eastern Wind.
