The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has made significant progress in its global reach, Through telecommunications and global reach efforts it has indeed penetrated every continent! According to Church leaders and LDS canon, the gospel will eventually be preached in all nations. President Russell M. Nelson has emphasized the Church's global nature, stating, "Truly, the blessings of the gospel are for every race, language and people. The Church of Jesus Christ is a global church"[6]. The Doctrine and Covenants prophesies that the gospel will "go forth unto all the world"[21]. The Church has an official presence in 158 countries and territories as of 2015[2], there are still areas with limited or no LDS presence, particularly in parts of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East[2]. But has it done what prophecy claimed it would? The Church continues to work towards fulfilling the scriptural mandate to take the gospel to "every nation, kindred, tongue, and people"[7][21]. And it will do so in the next 1000 years!
