Monochromoaticity, sometimes also referred to as Monochromacity which deals with monochromatic light.
Consider a sodium lamp that emits a light a single color. Sodium lamp is the most common examples of monochromatic light because it emits light of only one wavelength (measured in lambda), that is, of 5893 nm or 5893 A (Armstrong). What this means is that, the intensity of the sodium light is the highest when its wavelength is 5893 nm. However, that does not mean that the wavelength of sodium light is 0 for other wavelengths.
Laser has the capability of producing an intensity of more than 105 Watts/cm2 for a minimum bandwidth of 10-8 A. High monochromaticity of lasers refers to this limited bandwidth of within which large energy cab be converged.
Some advanced lasers these days also emit a broader spectrum of light of different wavelengths simultaneously.
