In this video, I analyze the Station Strangler case as well as three other serial killer cases of South Africa.
A new crime series has come out based on the profiling of Micki Pistorius, the first serial killer profiler in South Africa. series dramatizes her cases and her life (with certain factual changes) and follows her work on a number of serial homicides. The first two shows are on the Station Strangler who is believed to have murdered 22 young boys in Cape Town from 1986 to 1994. IN 1995 schoolteacher Norman Afzal Simons was convicted of murdering a ten-year-old boy and is believed by many to be the Station Strangler although he was not charged with any of the other crimes. After spending nearly three decades in prison, he was released in July of 2023 much to the anger of the Parow community where the boys were killed.
I also be analyzing the serial murders, the profiling methodology of Micki Pistorious, and the evidence that led to the conviction of Normans. I will also weigh in on whether I think Normans is actual the Station Strangler or if someone else or more than one person committed those crimes.
If you are in Australia, you can watch the "Catch Me a Killer" series (especially the first two on the Station Strangler case) at sbs.com.au and if you are not in Australia, you will need to use a VPN and place yourself there to be able to see it! You can also see the show on Britbox if you pay for it).
If you can, it IS an interesting series which I will comment on the reality or lack of reality that is presented. However, there is an EXCELLENT documentary on YouTube which really goes over the serial homicides of the boys very well and includes the police work and a view of the community and what they went through. Quite fascinating called "The Strangler Dossiers." Here is the link: youtu.be/PVmH1iFcDeM?si=kln1MiZcptMCFMMV
