Hello, I’m Sheila Rowan, President of the Institute of Physics.

I want to wish all our members a very happy New Year – and invite you to nominate yourselves, or others, for the 2022 IOP Awards. Nominations are open until midday on the 14th of February.

We want to receive nominations from all areas of physics, from across the UK and Ireland and internationally – representing all types of physicists.

In particular, we'd love to see more nominations for women and physicists from other under-represented groups, and to see more technicians nominated.

Last year we introduced self-nomination and we were delighted to see nominees and winners come through this route for the first time. So this year, please don’t be shy!

I urge all IOP members to look around you and think about where excellent physics is taking place – and to nominate those people this year.
