Our General Secretary and Chief Executive, Professor Nicola Ranger appeared on BBC Newsnight with the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting. She highlighted how a lack of staff in mental health services is driving people in crisis towards hospitals and emergency departments.
She also condemned violence against staff and explained how key factors such as long waiting times, corridor care and being in pain for long periods are driving a rise in abuse.
Earlier this week, RCN leaders and members told Wes Streeting that the nursing profession is integral to delivering its 10 Year Plan, but investment in nursing is key.
