Deformation behaviour and microstructure evolution were investigated during a production process of medium-Mn steels. Good results are achieved for the 5Mn steel subjected to intercritical annealing following hot-rolling simulation. Thin-lath ferritic-austenitic microstructure is obtained with about 35% of retained austenite.
