Find the algorithm here:

It's overall similar to reaction-diffusion patterns, but the algorithm isn't modeling reaction-diffusion, rather it's based on exploring convolution kernels on the fly to discover interesting patterns. You can call it continuous automaton, but it's essentially the same as convolution with a kernel that works on the nearby cells. I've previously referred to this approach as 'exploratory convolution'.

More to come on this, I hope to get some time to dig into the maths of it and maybe put out a formal article/publication, although it's essentially very similar to Turing Patterns, just with very arbitrary rules. which is why I'd rather refer to it as an automaton than a R-D pattern algorithm.

I'VE STARTED A NEW CHANNEL for my research/scientific pursuits. Subscribe and follow me if you'd like to see what I'm working on, I will probably try to keep this channel more for the art side of things.
