Bryant Cook plays *Temur Ruby Storm* in a Modern League on Magic: The Gathering Online! _These matches were played on: 07/28/26_
*///// DECK DESCRIPTION /////*
Team Handshake tested this *Ruby Storm* list for the Modern Pro Tour, and it's doing some things a little differently than what you're used to!
The biggest addition is *First Day of Class.* On the surface, it just pumps your creatures and gives them Haste, but the real value is the lesson package in the sideboard. You've got _Redirect Lightning_ and _Boomerang Basics,_ giving *Ruby Storm* actual interaction on the stack and on the board. That's a pretty big deal for a deck that normally just ignores what the opponent is doing. The other key change is _Highway Robbery_ over _Reckless Impulse_ and _Wrenn's Resolve_ — the goal is to supercharge your copies of _Hex Magic,_ and when it clicks it's pretty busted.
There's also no _Grapeshot_ anywhere in the 75. The only win condition is _Empty the Warrens,_ and it actually makes sense: pair it with *First Day of Class* and you only need Storm 10, plus the lesson package answers anything that would stop Goblin tokens from getting the job done. You can even Flash back multiple copies of *First Day of Class* off _Past in Flames_ to grab up to six lesson cards before you commit to the _Empty the Warrens._
The sideboard feels a little scattered with a lot of one-ofs that make consistency tough. That's the clearest spot for improvement if you want to tune this. But the core pairing of *First Day of Class* plus _Empty the Warrens_ is genuinely powerful, and Team Handshake put together something really cool here.
