In this video, I share several tips for drilling in difficult areas using a doweling jig. These woodworking tips are a great help when installing a kickplate and a reinforcement in our melamine shelf. Additionally, I connect all the parts with dowels to complete this shelf.
First, I prepare the reinforcement and drill the holes, ensuring that the holes are well aligned and that the drill doesn't go through the side of the shelf's vertical panel. Then, I mark and drill the holes in the kickplate, making sure it is set back about 8 mm from the front of the shelf for a professional finish.
While installing the kickplate, I show a Very Useful Trick for drilling into a narrow edge using the dowel jig.
Finally, we assemble all the parts, apply wood glue, and use strap clamps and clamps to ensure the joints are secure and at a 90-degree angle.
